With the fleet introduction of the first Airbus A321neo, a special paint scheme will also be visible on it. The color scheme of our first A321neo will be based on that from Airbus.

One-month existence since the re-establishment
After exactly one month we can proudly announce that contrary to expectations, flight operations went off without any major disruptions. The many months of planning to restart flight operations have paid off and at this point we would like to thank all employees who made this possible. Also a big thank you to our passengers who also caused no delays with their punctuality - that is not a matter of course in today's time.

Balance sheet

Financial balance sheet
With liabilities of approx. 30 million euros and a turnover of 40.3 million euros, the result after one month of flight operations is an extremely satisfactory profit of 10.3 million euros. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all customers who made this possible!

Passenger balance
We were able to bring 54,000 passengers to their destination safely and relaxed in the first month. We are in good spirits to increase that number by 50% in the following month.

Fleet & route balance
With three of our own and one leased machine, we can now offer seven destinations. In December, the number of aircraft is to increase to a total of six and thus serve up to three additional destinations, as well as increase some frequencies to existing destinations.

BlueSky Air

The summer flight schedule will come into effect on April 8, 2019 and 3 new destinations will be added. In addition, some city connections will be suspended until further notice. The reason for this is the currently unfavorable aircraft market. The plan was to start the summer flight schedule with two leased Airbus A220s, but they had to switch to one A220 at short notice. A Boeing 717 with 139 seats will initially be used as the second aircraft. Both aircrafts will be leased until the end of July, when the first brand-new and own Airbus A220 will be integrated into the fleet and replace the Boeing 717.

BlueSky Air Group

The BlueSky Air Group will grow by another airline in the near future. The supervisory board has already given the green light for the new airline. The new subsidiary will be called BlueSky Africa and will have its headquarters and base at the airport in Addis Ababa. The Ethiopian airline will serve destinations all over the world.
Aircrafts of the type Embraer E190-E2 and E195-E2 will to be used for short and medium-haul routes and Boeing 777-9 and Boeing 787-9 for long-haul routes.

BlueSky Air

The leasing contracts for the Airbus A220-300 and the Boeing 717 were terminated with immediate effect. The reason for this is serious breaches of contract on the part of the lessor. The nature of the breach of contract is not disclosed.
Two replacement Boeing MD90-30 aircraft were quickly acquired in wet lease, thereby avoiding flight cancellations.
A spokesman for the press office explains:
"[...] Even if this type of aircraft is a bit older than the two predecessors in the fleet, we can operate them for more favorable conditions. In addition, the MD90 has a higher number of seats. This results in a capacity increase of 13%. [...]"

It remains to be seen whether and to what extent these new acquisitions will have an impact on future fleet policy.

Refunds and rebooking
Due to the ongoing corona pandemic, there are no costs for flight price reimbursements or rebooking in the event of flight cancellations due to travel restrictions. Upon request, the flight price paid can also be handed over as a voucher *.

Fleet update
The Airbus A350-900 orders have been transferred to the ultra-long-haul version A350-900ULR and the larger A350-1000 model. The reason for this is the acquisition of the A330-900, which can fly the same routes as the planned A350-900 with roughly the same number of seats. For slightly longer routes that the A330-900 can no longer operate, the A350-1000 will be used with a more generous seat spacing.
